The JOK Academy program will provide opportunities for developing knowledge of and skills in the visual arts, an appreciation of art, and an understanding of the historical and cultural aspects and value of the visual arts.
Students develop visual literacy by using a variety of media and technical processes. Creative expression in the visual arts helps students know themselves better and appreciate their own and others’ creativity. Art will allow students to explore ideas and media; promote innovative thinking; and enable students to experience creating and contemplating original works of art.
Visual arts curriculum provides opportunities for students to accept their own creative and original expressions. As students discuss and understand their own expressions, they develop an understanding of the works of others. The visual arts program gives young artists opportunities to explore and experience the visual arts, using a wide variety of art media.
In the visual arts all students are constantly exploring their individual limitations and their creative gifts. The multifaceted nature of the visual arts allows all students to find their own interests and strengths, whether through painting, drawing, graphic arts, and printmaking, sculpture, photography, ceramics, textile, or fiber arts. The teacher encourages students to push the boundaries of their abilities.
Visual arts program provide a creative outlet and an opportunity for reflection so that students at risk of dropping out build self-esteem, make meaningful friendships, strengthen their support systems, and understand connections to other core disciplines.

Visual Arts –Quality art originals and limited edition prints of fine art pieces produced by award winning artist JackieO. Kelley (whose work has been purchased by among others including a famous Broadway superstar who has won multi Tony awards) for display at offices, businesses, conference centers ,apartments, condos, homes and any other venues that needs to look lovely. She is an accomplished portrait artist as well. Ask JackieO. about art lessons. Her art is hip and full of life!!!
